Freddie Mac Salutes America’s Workforce During National Homeownership
Month
June is National Homeownership Month, an opportunity for Freddie Mac to renew
our commitment to our mission and dedication to affordable lending. This year,
we are also focused on working toward a solution to the national problem faced
by working families: the lack of affordable workforce housing, especially near
their places of employment.
This month Freddie Mac launches a number of initiatives that benefit the economy
and America’s working families:
- A Workforce
Home Benefit solution. We’re helping address the workforce housing
issue and showing employers how they can support their workforce.
- A Freddie Mac Foundation effort to help
homeless families find homes and live independently.
- Policy changes to support alternate sources of funding.
- Education of families on homeownership
misconceptions and the importance of housing counseling/financial management.
- Participation at the Bronx Homeownership Fair on June 4. The fair is designed
to increase exposure to homeownership opportunities for first-time homebuyers
in the Bronx.
- Expansion of our CreditSmart Español workshops.
- Sponsorship of seminars to help working families keep homes under new bankruptcy
law.
- Participation and sponsorship of Congress Builds America, Habitat for Humanity
Homes in Detroit and Benton Harbor, Michigan.

during National Homeownership Month.
