Valuable Partnerships

The American dream of homeownership has never been more alive.

In fact, more than sixty-eight percent of households/families are homeowners today - the highest level ever.

Freddie Mac works with numerous community-based organizations to keep it that way. We believe that it is important for this nation to continue to build on its efforts to put homeownership and quality rental housing within the reach of more families.

The collective task that Freddie Mac and these organizations have before them is to extend today's great achievements to more families tomorrow, particularly for minority and low-income families who are underserved by the market.

Some of these organizations touch consumers directly, helping them step-by-step through the home ownership process. Freddie Mac works behind the scenes, where much work can be done. Using the power of the charter Congress gave us in 1970, we make the mortgage process faster, fairer and more affordable. We also reach out to new sources of capital for community-based lending.

Toward this end, we work with lenders and Wall Street investment banks, and through such community-based organizations such as Rainbow/Push and The National Urban League, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, the Asian Real Estate Association of America and Neighborworks America.

In fact, since our creation in 1970, we've financed homes for more than 50 million families in America. We invite you to learn more about Freddie Mac's mission in today's housing finance.
